My favorite shoot I have done in a long time, maybe ever. We might really be
onto something here.
We, SASA/900 Club, have done a “State Trail Shoot” championship every year but this is the first with this format. We have never had a good turn out, and despite only drawing 6 archers this is our best turnout ever for an annual Trail Shoot, but this might change.
On the compound side of things today notice that all 5 archers are within 6 points of each other. It felt like we had a new leader on each target as we moved through until the final couple of targets and Neil and John battled to the last arrow. Great fun to watch.
On the women’s traditional side Angel Duncan laid down an amazing score which establishes an SASA Gold Trail Shoot record that I don’t see getting beat anytime soon. Amazing work Angel, you deserve so much credit and kudos for your hard work and diligence. Keep it going.
Here are your results…..
Compound Open/Unlimited
1st John Coros 390 3 X’s $25.00 New Club Record
2nd Neil Thagard 389 7 X’s
3rd Ken Walter 387 5 X’s
4th Dave Morgan 386 9 X’s
5th Ray Parrish 384 2 X’s

- Have a good pair of binoculars and be ready to make quick and accurate adjustments after the first arrow you shoot, and again after your 2nd arrow.
- The shooter can let down his/her bow, but cannot adjust their sight until that arrow is shot.
- Shooters are required to straddle the shooting stake, basically putting the stake between your feet. Do not stand behind or in front of the stake.
- If your group is approaching a target and the group in front of you is still shooting please stop well behind them as not to interupt their shooting. Wait until the group is done shooting, pulling arrows and leaves the area into a safe area before you start shooting.
- If your group is moving slower than the group behind you it is fine, in fact it's encouraged, to allow the faster group to "shoot through".
I am interested in how the Wednesday 900 shoots work. Thanks Curtis Hodel
ReplyDeleteHow it works, It's just the basic 900 round you would shoot at an NFAA shoot. its for seniors only, to join us you have to be able to shoot well enough to at least hit the target butt at 60 yards. The round is 5 ends of 6 arrows at 60 yards, 5 ends of 6 arrows at 50 yards and 5 ends of 6 arrows at 40 yards. Plus 2 practice rounds. Wednesdays are open to new shooters, Sundays are not.
